Art Roose has been honored for outstanding contributions to Comets track and field. In thanks for 47 years of volunteer work at the pole vault pit, Amherst head track coach Rob Glatz presented him with a framed picture of Roose and Olympic gold medalist and pole vault Olympic record holder Tim Mack, who was the keynote speaker at the 2017 ASICS Comet Clinic held at Marion L. Steele High School in March. Glatz said Roose’s tenure encompasses not only the Southwestern Conference championships, but Comet Relays, the Lorain County Invitational, as well as district and regional championships hosted at the Richard S. Cooley Track. He is heralded as a master of his event area by officials, coaches, and athletes.
